About

Therapist Profile Picture

I started working with adolescents and their families in intensive treatment for eating disorders over 5 years ago. While there I worked with individuals struggling with not only eating disorders, but anxiety, depression, self-harm behaviors, trauma, low self-esteem, struggles with boundary setting. I also worked with parents and caregivers who felt stuck and didn't know what to do to support their loved one going in and out of treatment. â€‹It was there that my passion for working with these populations grew.

I love supporting individuals and family members understand the complexities of Eating Disorders and to explore the underlying function for the behaviors and how they have served the individual. Sometimes something happens in our lives and we don't know what else to do so we start to use whatever we can to cope, whether that is disordered eating, self-harm behaviors, or avoidance behaviors, just to name a few.

I have received training and supervision in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD to provide specialized services for those who are struggling to recover following traumatic life events. Whether this event(s), occurred recently or years ago, CPT is effective in supporting you in your recovery.

I support my clients by empowering them and supporting them in implementing new coping skills to interrupt the behaviors that are no longer serving them. I also enjoy working with caregivers who may be filling burnt out and at a loss of how to support their loved one. I believe parents are doing the best they can with the resources and knowledge they have available to them. Sometimes you still need some extra help. I teach and coach parents on advanced caregiver skills and then facilitate family therapy to provide caregivers with opportunities to practice their new skills to support their loved one.
